MACOMB, Ill. – Hollister Home Center is marking its fifteenth year at 4001 West Jackson Street in Macomb, where its 20,000-square-foot showroom carries furniture, mattresses and bedding, appliances, flooring and window treatments for customers throughout west-central Illinois.

The store opened in 2011, when the Hollister family, whose plumbing business has served Macomb since 1944, purchased Floor to Ceiling of Macomb and reopened it as Hollister Home Center. “Mike and I first met back in 1982 and started working together right then,” said John Purdy, owner and president. “For more than forty years we’ve been trying to make this a warm, friendly place to walk into. Adding appliances is part of that. It made us a complete home center, so people aren’t driving all over the place to furnish a house.”

Hollister Home Center has been the only Mohawk Floorscapes dealer within 40 miles since it opened in 2011. It is also the only Flexsteel Furniture Gallery in the area, carrying the full upholstered line from the Dubuque, Iowa company, whose Blue Steel Spring seating is guaranteed for life. Hollister also carries Ashley in living room, bedroom, dining room, home office, home entertainment and outdoor furniture.

The bedding department stocks Ashley, Tempur-Pedic, Sealy and Stearns & Foster mattresses in innerspring, pocketed coil, hybrid, latex and memory foam, along with motorized foundations.

Appliances arrived in September 2020, and the department now stocks ranges and cooktops, wall ovens, range hoods, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washers and dryers. The lineup runs from GE and Samsung up through Bosch, GE Profile, Café and Thermador, with Speed Queen laundry and Thor Kitchen.

The flooring department offers Mohawk and Karastan in carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile and commercial carpet tile, with installation arranged through the store. Window treatments are Hunter Douglas, with measuring and installation available to complete the look.

For customers planning a remodel, Hollister offers kitchen and bath design help, with flooring, appliances and window treatments all chosen in one place.

Most of what Hollister sells is out on the floor to be seen, sat on and compared side by side rather than ordered from a catalog. Hollister Home Center is locally owned and operated.

“People drive past a lot of stores to get here, so we try to make it worth the trip,” said Mike Wayland, manager. “You don’t need an appointment, and you’re not going to get handed off. Come in, sit on the furniture, look at the flooring samples in real light, and we’ll figure it out from there.”

Hollister’s delivery area includes Bushnell, Canton, Monmouth, Carthage, Hamilton, Nauvoo, Mt. Sterling and Beardstown. Furniture delivery is free within 40 miles of the store. Same-day delivery is available on many in-stock items.

Hollister Home Center is marking the anniversary with a sale in October, with markdowns on selected furniture in the gallery.

Hollister Home Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4001 West Jackson Street in Macomb. No appointment is necessary. More information is available at hollisterhomecenter.com or by calling (309) 833-1000.
